Sawrey House Hotel is proud to support The Hawkshead Relish Company and as such we use their Chutney's, Relishes and Pickles in many of our menu dishes. The hawkshead Relish Company is situated just across Esthwaite Water and can be seen from our Veranda.
We only use Claire's Handmade Extra Fruity Strawberry Jam for our Lakeland Cream Teas. Claire and her husband Michael began ‘Claire’s Handmade’ in their family kitchen using their Rayburn and Claire’s mother's treasured Aga jam pan and started selling their products at Farmers’ Markets and local shows. They have won numerous Great Taste Awards and Best Overall Preserve in the North West 2005. Their most recent award was the ‘Lake District Life Food Heroes Award 2008-09’.
As a new local business we are keen to use local produce and products wherever we can and have therefore sourced 3 great local ales for our bar from Hawkshead Brewery. Originally founded in Hawkshead, the brewery grew so fast that it had to find bigger premises. Hawkshead Beers are now brewed in Stavely, Windermere but we are still proud stockists of this fantastic local brewer.
