Sawrey House is a traditional converted country house retreat set in 3 acres of sculpted gardens designed for lazy indolence. It is the quintessential English rural hideaway, built in the 1830's with slate from the local quarry and is one of the prettiest buildings in the prestine conservation hamlet of Near Sawrey.
Originally built for a Vicar who moved to the area from Cambridge to become the Headmaster of Hawkshead Grammar School, the house was designed to reflect the family home in Cambridge but with an ecclesiastical feel.
