Esthwaite Water is just a 10 minute walk from Sawrey House Hotel and is a natural lake extending to 280 acres with deep basins to the North and South. Combined with extensive shallows, it creates a rich and varied fishery. Rainbow and Brown Trout are re-stocked weekly throughout the season.
Grizedale Mountain Bikes hire a large range of mountain bikes for all ages and abilities. Set in Grizedale Forest only 3 miles from Sawrey House Hotel, Grizedale MTB hire bikes on a half or full day hire basis. There are numerous routes around Grizedale Forest ranging from the easy to the not-so-easy. A complete circuit of the forest will take you about 3 hours at a leisurely pace, and with other attractions within the complex including shops and a cafe, you can really make it a full day out.

Sawrey House is situated right next door to Hill Top Farm, the once home and writing place for Beatrix Potter. Just 2 miles away is the Beatrix potter Galleries and slightly further afield are the attractions of The original 'Gondola', a re-built Victorian steam yacht, completely rebuilt by the National Trust, a fantastic walk through the Monk Coniston garden and on to Tarn Hows, as well as Townend farmhouse.
